_____________________________________________________________________ People in the News: Sting Director Mullins Receives Community Colleges of Spokane Honors and Advanced National Coaching Diploma

Rick Mullins, Director of Sting Soccer, will be receiving double honors at the Community Colleges of Spokane Athletic Hall of Fame Awards on April 26th. To honor his achievements while attending and playing soccer at the college, he will be inducted as a Hall of Fame Student Athlete. The CCS Men’s soccer team he played on is also being inducted into the CCS Hall for Fame for their 1990 NWAAC Championship season. Rick, a United State Soccer Federation (USSF) National “B” License coach also recently received his NSCAA Advanced National Coaching Diploma
Sting Alumni Named WSU's Most Valuable Player Cougar Soccer Hands Out Team Awards

PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior goalkeeper Brynn Bemis was named most valuable player highlighting the Washington State soccer 2007 team awards, Head Coach Matt Potter announced. A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Bemis ranked on the Cougar single-season lists in wins (third, 11), minutes (third, 1,765), saves (ninth, 80), and goals against average (ninth, 1.02). She ranks on WSU career lists in shutouts (third, 11), goals against average (third, 0.87), wins (fourth, 18), minutes (fourth, 3,211), winning percentage (fifth, .618), and saves (fifth, 150).
Bemis started all 19 matches and played every minute for WSU with the exception of the second half of a 4-0 win at Idaho. She was in net for wins over No. 18 Oklahoma State and national champion USC and helped the Cougars post an 11-5-3 record, the second-highest winning percentage (.658) in school history.

Hogan has over 20 years of soccer coaching experience and holds a National “B” License and an Advanced National Diploma. Dan completed his fifth year as head coach and has been with the Cardinals for ten year. During Hogan’s impressive tenure, his programs have posted an overall record of 96–34-18 with one league championship and two conference tournament titles. In 2005, Hogan was honored as Scenic West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and was also named college Coach of the Year for North Idaho. |
